.The agriculture advantage argues that the collapse of farm health insurance is destroying American agriculture through two mutually reinforcing channels: farmers themselves are being priced out of coverage and out of farming, and the rural hospitals that keep agricultural communities alive are closing as their patients go uninsured. Single payer reverses both — it severs insurance from farm income and, according to the affirmative’s Lancet evidence, actually raises rural hospital revenue. The impacts run from a 5.9% mortality increase in every community that loses its hospital all the way up to global food insecurity, resource wars, and nuclear conflict. It is one of the better advantages on this topic, for reasons I will explain — and it has one structural weakness the negative should exploit in every round.
